UK £1 Banknote - Chief Cashier J B Page

Back in the early 1980s, a £1 could buy far more than it does today. A pint of milk cost just 21p, a loaf of bread was 38p, and you could even enjoy a whole pint of lager for around 93p.

Now you can own an original £1 banknote from that era - preserved in Mint Uncirculated condition.

Issued by the Bank of England between 1978 and 1981, this note formed part of the groundbreaking Series D “Pictorial” Issue. It marked a historic first: the £1 banknote featuring the portrait of a great figure from British history.

Why It Deserves a Place in Your Collection:

  • A Milestone in Banknote Design – The first ever £1 note to feature a British historical figure.
  • Celebrating Isaac Newton – The reverse depicts Sir Isaac Newton, genius of the Scientific Revolution and one of the most distinguished Masters of the Mint in history.
  • Royal Authority – The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II alongside the signature of Chief Cashier J.B. Page. Since 1870, the Chief Cashier has been the sole signatory on every Bank of England note issued.
  • Mint Uncirculated Quality – Preserved in the same crisp condition as the day it left the Bank of England.

Supplies of this historic £1 banknote are extremely limited. Once sold out, the chance to secure this iconic piece of British numismatic heritage may not return.

Secure yours today - before this piece of history disappears for good.
