This new 50p coin has been issued by the United Kingdom to celebrate one of Beatrix Potter's much loved children's tales, 'The tale of Squirrel Nutkin’.

Issued by The Royal Mint, this coin is the fifth in the 2016 5-coin Beatrix Potter series which has become one of the most popular numismatic collections ever.

It is also the first and only official UK coin to feature Beatrix Potter's rebellious character, Squirrel Nutkin. The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
