The Faces of Queen Victoria Shilling Trilogy

** Includes the key-date 1887 Shilling **

Mark 125 years since the passing of Queen Victoria with this evocative set of three historic shillings, brought together to tell the full story of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch of the 19th century.

The Victorian shilling is one of the most recognisable circulating coins of the era, used daily across Britain and the Empire.

Over the course of Victoria’s long reign, its design evolved to reflect both the Queen’s changing image and the nation itself - making it a fascinating miniature record of history.

Set Highlights

  • Young Head Shilling (First Portrait) – Depicting a youthful Queen Victoria shortly after her accession, symbolising optimism and a new era.

  • Jubilee Head Shilling (1887) – Struck in the very year of Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, featuring the ridiculed 'small head' jubilee portrait, hated by Victoria herself and withdrawn after just two years.

  • Old Head Shilling (Final Portrait) – Issued in the later years of her reign, presenting a dignified, matriarchal image of an Empress at the height of imperial power.

Issued in a poignant edition of just 125 sets worldwide, this carefully curated trilogy offers a powerful narrative of Queen Victoria’s life and legacy - captured through the changing portraiture of one of Britain’s most iconic coins.
