TWICE AS LIMITED: UK 2025 Greenwich Observatory Silver Piedfort £2

Over twice as limited as the standard edition, the Royal Observatory, Greenwich Silver Piedfort £2 coin is limited to just 650 worldwide.

Established by royal decree of King Charles II in 1675, the Royal Observatory became the heart of maritime exploration, astronomy, and timekeeping – with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) becoming the global standard.

And now, to mark 350 years since its founding, a new UK £2 coin has been issued that you can own in extremely limited Silver Piedfort quality…

  • Struck from a double-thickness Sterling Silver with the addition of 24ct gold plating, this edition offers the highest quality in precision minting, showcasing every intricate detail with a flawless mirror-like background and frosted relief.
  • Reverse design by Henry Gray, artfully combining key symbols of astronomical advancement – including the North Star and the Shepherd Gate Clock – as a tribute to the Observatory’s legacy.
  • Obverse features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, created by Martin Jennings.
  • Edge inscription: “PERFECTING THE ART OF NAVIGATION” – a nod to the Observatory’s pivotal role in global exploration and science.
  • Limited to just 650 worldwide - TWICE AS LIMITED as the standard Silver edition

To put this into perspective, the George Orwell Silver Piedfort £2 had an edition limit of 1,984 and completely sold out within a matter of weeks, this release is over three times more limited than that!
